The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Karachi Centre and NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi jointly organized the 4th International Electrical Engineering Conference (IEEC-2019) held on Friday 25th & Saturday 26th January, 2019, in collaboration with Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC), Federation of Engineering Institutions of South & Central Asia (FEISCA), Pakistan Navy Engineering College-NUST, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET), Bahria University (BU), Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Muhammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), DHA SUFFA University (DSU), Hamdard University (HU), PAF Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (PAF-KIET), Usman Institute of Technology (UIT), Institute of Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE), IEEE Power & Energy Society, Karachi Chapter (IEEE-PES) and The Institute of Engineering & Technology, Karachi Chapter (IET), Iqra University , FAST, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar.

The Theme of the Conference was “Aspiring Pathways in Electrical Engineering (ASPIRE-2019)”.


Inaugural Session:
Venue: IEP Convention Centre

The Inaugural Session was held on Friday 25th January, 2019 at 4:00 pm.

The Conference started with recitation of the Holy Quran by Engr. Muzammil Ali

Engr. Samia Zafar, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, NED UET alongwith Engr. Afaq Ali Siddiqui, DGM, K-Electrical, and Member Local Council conducted the Inaugural Session.

Engr. Asad S. Jafar, Chairman & CEO, PHILIPS Pakistan Limited was the Chief Guest.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Qazi, Dean, Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering, NEDUET & Convener, 4th IEEC-2019 presented his address and brief about the Conference.
Engr. Sohail Bashir, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre and Chief Organizer of the 4th International Electrical Engineering Conference presented the welcome address.

The Key Note presentation was presented by Prof. Ir. Dr. Hazlie Mokhlis, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate Studies), Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya, Malaysia on “Power System Resilience and Research Opportunities from Distribution Perspective” was highly appreciated.

Engr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Vice-Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology, presented his address.

Engr. Sohail Bashir, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre and Chief Organizer,4th IEEC-2019, alongwith Engr. Prof. Saad Qazi, and Engr. Tafseer Ahmed Khan, Vice-Chairman (Electrical) IEP Karachi Centre presented the Conference shield to the Chief Guest.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Memon, Chairman, Electrical Engineering Department, NED University of Engineering and Technology and Co-Convener of 4th IEEC-2019 presented the vote of thanks.

The Inaugural Session came to an end followed by Dinner.

The Conference was spread over Five Technical sessions in two days at Convention Center, Dr. S. A. Hasan Hall, IEP, Karachi Centre. Guest Speakers were invited from the industry to talk before each Technical Session.

16 oral papers were presented in 5 technical sessions, 14 papers were presented through poster presentation and 12 Final Year Projects were also presented.

CLOSING SESSION

The closing session was held after the technical sessions of the Conference on Satuday the 26th January, 2019.
The Closing Session started with recitation of Holy Quran by Engr. Muhammad Muzzamil and was conducted by Engr. Muhammad Komail, Final Year Student, NEDUET
Rear Admiral (Retd) Engr. Prof. Dr.Sarfraz Hussain, TI(M), SI(M), Vice-Chancellor, DHA SUFFA University, was the Chief Guest. while Engr. Prof. Dr. Ehsanullah Khan, Vice-Chancellor, Balochistan UET, Khuzdar, was the Guest of Honour.

Engr. Dr. Muhammad Ali Baig, Progrmme Secretary, and Asstt Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, NEDUET presented the Conference Highlights
The Key Note Presentation was presented by Engr. Dr. Umar Shahbaz Khan on “The Era of Robotic and Automation in Pakistan-The National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) an Overview” which was highly appreciated.
The Concluding remarks and vote of thanks were presented by Engr. Dr. Riazuddin, Deputy Chief Organizer, 4th IEEC-2019.
IEP Karachi Centre announced to award “Chairman IEP Karachi Centre Medal” to the best paper of the Conference.
Selection Committee comprising of session chairs decided the best paper of the 4th IEEC-2019.
The best paper award was given to Zain Ul Mustafa, Arish Yaseen, Hassan Naeem, Maria Aftab on presenting their paper on “Stock Market Prediction with the Integration of Daily News Sentiments Using Long Short Term Memory in Artificial Neural Network with the Ensemble Approach”. (IEEC-2019-32)
