THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS, PAKISTAN

The Institution of Engineers, Pakistan (IEP) was founded with the blessing of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in 1948 with its Headquarters at Dhaka. In 1972 the Headquarters were shifted to Lahore. 'THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS, PAKISTAN', the name was amended by substitution of Institution for Institute in line with international trend was amended in the 22nd AGM held in 1979.

IEP has its own constitution, according to which its affairs at the Headquarters are managed by its elected President, Vice Presidents and Secretary General. The central council elected for a 3-years term has been vested with the powers of the Governing Body.

Local Centres
IEP has 10 centres in Pakistan at Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Sukkur and Tarbela.. A Centre has been established abroad in Saudi Arabia at Riyadh.

IEP Quaid-e-Azam Forum
The institution came into existence with the blessing of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Father of the Nation, who in his message to the First Inaugural Meeting of the Institution wished it every success. The Institution has endeavored to follow his message for the advancement of engineering education in the country.

In 1996, the Institution established a permanent platform called 'IEP Quaid-e-Azam Forum'. It held its first Quaid-e-Azam Conference on July 6, 1996. A book incorporating all the papers read therein has been published. The Quaid-e-Azam Conference has now become a regular annual feature.
