8th INTERNATIONAL CIVIL ENGINEERING CONGRESS
23rd & 24th December, 2016 AT KARACHI

The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Karachi Centre and NED University of Engineering and Technology jointly organized the 8th International Civil Engineering Congress on Ensuring Technological Advancements Through Innovation Based Knowledge Corridor on 23rd and 24th December, 2016 in collaboration with Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries (FEIIC),Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA) and The Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC).

Engr. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Afzal Haque Vice Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology, was the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session.

The Inaugural and 1st Technical Session of the Congress was held at Video Conferencing Hall, Civil Engineering Department, NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi.

The Congress started from recitation of Holy Quran by Engr. Ali Bin Sohail followed by The National Anthem.

Engr. Sohail Bashir, Vice-Chairman (Civil) IEP Karachi Centre and Chief Organizer of 8th ICEC-2016 presented the welcome address. Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre, Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Convener, 8th ICEC-2016 also spoken on the occasion.

The keynote address was presented by Engr. Prof. Martin Smith, MD, Matrics Consultants (Pvt) Limited, UK on Ensuring Technological Advancements Through Innovation Based Knowledge Corridor which was appreciated very much by the participants.

Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre presented the Congress shield to the Chief Guest. Engr. Ayaz Mirza, Secretary IEP Karachi Centre presented the vote of thanks. Engr. Dr. Farrukh Arif, Co-Convener, 8th ICEC-2016 conducted the Inaugural Session.

IEP Karachi Centre awarded “Chairman IEP Karachi Centre Antique Medal” to the best paper of the Congress.

Selection Committee comprising of Session Chairs decided best paper of the 8th ICEC-2016.

The best paper award was given to the paper “Estimation of Modal Shift for Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Quetta” presented by Engr. Anwaar Hazoor, authored by Waqar Hazoor, Abrar Hazoor.


CLOSING SESSION

A closing session was held after the 10th technical session of the congress. Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre presented the closing address.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Convener, 8th ICEC-2016 presented his concluding Remarks.

Engr. Abdul Jabbar Sangi, Co-Convener, 8th ICEC-2016 presented the vote of thanks.
