"Engineers Day”
on Sunday 6th May, 2018
The Institution of Engineers Pakistan was founded on 7 th May, 1948 at Chittagong with the
blessing of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Institution of
Engineers Pakistan throughout Pakistan and abroad celebrate its foundation day as “Engineers
Day” every year in the month of May.
In order to promote academic and professional interest in engineering community, The
Institution of Engineers Pakistan Karachi Centre celebrated the Engineers Day ceremony
on Sunday 6 th May, 2018 at 07:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of NED University of Engineering and
Technology, Karachi.
A large number of engineers around 800 attended the programme. There was enthusiasm
among young engineers.
Engr. Sohail Bashir, Vice-Chairman (Civil), IEP Karachi Centre conducted the programme.
Engr. Farhat Adil, Vice-President (Civil), IEP presented the welcome address.
Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre, Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh
Hashmat Lodi, Vice-Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology also
addressed the audience and stressed upon the engineers , Engineering Students and
engineering community to play their due role for the development of engineering profession
and the country.
Eminent Engineers belonging to different field of life were given Life Time Achievement
Awards. Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Engr. Sohail
Bashir, Engr. Farhat Adil and Engr. Ayaz Mirza, presented the Award to them for their
services to Engineering Profession and Community namely:

In the end Engr. Ayaz Mirza, Secretary, IEP Karachi Centre congratulated all those who were
awarded the Life Time Achievement Award and presented the vote of thanks and asked all
the Engineers/Engineering Students to put their best efforts in their respective field to bring
prosperity to the engineering community and the nation.
Engr. Ayaz Mirza particularly thanked Engr.Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Vice-Chancellor,
NEDUET for his full support and allowing IEP Karachi Centre to hold its engineers day in
NEDUET. He also thanked his entire team who worked hard day and night for the success of
this event.
Engr. Ayaz Mirza specially thanked Engr. Sohail Bashir for his efforts and full support,
coordination and cooperation for this successful Engineers Day.
