Seminar on “A Look at Pakistan’s Journey in Technology Development Some Thoughts and Recollection”

The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Karachi Centre had organized a Half Day Seminar on “A Look at Pakistan’s Journey in Technology Development Some Thoughts and Recollections” on Saturday the 26th August, 2017”, at IEP Convention Centre.

The seminar started from recitation of Holy Quran and followed by National Anthem.

Engr. Beena Riaz, Member Central Council, IEP and Member Women Engineers Committee IEP Karachi Centre presented the introduction of Seminar.

Engr. Neelofar Hameed, Member Central Council, IEP and Member Women Engineers Committee IEP Karachi Centre presented the Message of Quaide-e-Azam to the First Inaugural meeting of the IEP on 20th June, 1948.

Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre presented the welcome address. He acknowledged the outstanding achievements of Women Engineers Committee IEP Karachi Centre particularly Engr. Asfia Aleem, Chairperson, Women Committee, IEP Karachi Centre. He expressed hope that women engineers will continue to gather here, identify their problems and find practical solutions by taking ownership. He reassured that IEP will continue to support them in all respect.

The Following papers were presented in the seminar.

“70 Years of Architecture in Karachi- A Reflection”
By Prof. Dr. Noman Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Architecture and Planning, NEDUET.

“Role of Pakistani Youth in Technology Development”
By Dr. Mehtab Karim, Vice Chancellor Malir University of Science and Technology.

“Partition of India and Migration to Pakistan”
By Engr. Nooruddin Ahmed, Senior Member , IEP, Karachi Centre

Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre, accompanied with Engr. Ayaz Mirza, Secretary, IEP Karachi Centre, Engr. Asfia Aleem, Chairperson, Women Engineers Committee, IEP Karachi Centre presented the seminar shield and certificate to the Authors.

Engr. Ayaz Mirza, Secretary, IEP Karachi Centre presented vote of thanks. He also invited the participants who are not members of IEP as yet, to become member of IEP. He also appreciated the efforts put up by Women Engineers Committee IEP Karachi Centre particularly Engr. Asfia Aleem, Chairperson, Women Engineers Committee IEP Karachi Centre, Engr. Rukhsana Rahooja, Engr. Beena Riaz, Engr. Sadia Muniza Fraz and Engr. Bushra Nadeem Mufti. He assured all support to Women Engineers from IEP Karachi Centre for organizing such activities.

The event formally came to an end with concluding remarks by Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre.
