The 2nd International Electrical Engineering Conference (IEEC-2017) jointly organized by the Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Karachi Centre and NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi on 19th & 20th May, 2017 at IEP Convention Center, in collaboration with Federation of Engineering Institutions of Islamic Countries, Federation of Engineering Institutions of South & Central Asia, Baluchistan University of Information Technology, Engineering & Management Sciences, Bahria University, Indus University, Hamdard University, Usman Institute of Technology, Pakistan Navy Engineering College-NUST, Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, The Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers Pakistan, Karachi Chapter, IEEE Power & Energy Society, Karachi Chapter and The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Karachi Chapter. Theme of the Conference was “Innovation and Advances in Electrical Engineering”.
The Conference started with recitation of the Holy Quran.
Engr. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Vice-Chancellor, NED University of Engineering and Technology was the Chief Guest.
Engr. Sohail Bashir, Chief Organizer of the 2nd International Electrical Engineering Conference presented the welcome address and gave brief about the Conference.
Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A. Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre presented his address.
Engr. Dr. Izharul Haq, President, IEP and Engr. Mian Sultan Mahmood, Secretary General, IEP also spoke on this occasion
The Key Note Presentation was presented by Prof. Dr. Ted Johansson of Integrated Circuits and System, Department of Electrical Engineering, Linkoping University, Sweden, on “The 28 nm CMOS Power Amplifier” which was an online presentation via skype and was highly appreciated by the participants.
The second Keynote speech was presented by Engr. Prof. Dr. Uvais Qidwai, Qatar University, Qatar.
Engr. Prof. Dr. S.F.A.Rafeeqi, Chairman, IEP Karachi Centre, alongwith Engr. Sohail Bashir, Chief Organizer,2nd IEEC-2017, and Engr. Ayaz Mirza, Secretary, IEP Karachi Centre presented the Conference shield to the Chief Guest. Engr.Ayaz Mirza, Secretary IEP Karachi Centre presented the vote of thanks.
Engr. Ms. Samiya Zafar, and Engr. Ms. Najia Naveed, faculty Members, Electrical Engineering Department, NED UET conducted the Inaugural Session. The Inaugural Session came to an end followed by Asr Prayer and High Tea.
The Conference was spread over eight technical sessions in two days at Convention Centre and at Dr. S. A. Hasan Hall at IEP Karachi Centre.

Engr. Mian Sultan Mahmood, Secretary General, The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, during his address presented a presentation on “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Resources: The Soft Solution of Energy Crisis” which was highly appreciated.
The Concluding remarks was presented by Engr. Dr. Riaz Uddin Assistant Professor Department of Electrical Engineering Deputy Management Representative ISO (DMR-III) / Deputy Director QEC, NED University of Engineering and Technology and Conference Chair 2nd IEEC-2017.
IEP Karachi Centre announced to award “Chairman IEP Karachi Centre Antique Medal” to the best paper of the Conference.
Selection Committee comprising of session chairs decided the best paper of the 2nd IEEC-2017.
The best paper award was given to Mudassir Javed and Dawood Shah Department of Electrical Engineering College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad on their paper entitled "Estimating Reconstruction Error due to Jitter of Gaussian Markov Processes” (IEEC2017-17)
